Important Update: Migration to Ahrefs API v3
Ahrefs has announced that all applications must transition to version 3 of their API, and DomCop will be updating accordingly.
Our migration from v2 to v3 will take place over the weekend of October 18-19.
What This Means for You
If you currently use Ahrefs with DomCop, there are a few important changes to be aware of:
1. Re-authorization Required
Beginning October 18, all v2 Ahrefs tokens will be invalidated.
When you log in after this date, you’ll be prompted to authorize DomCop to access the new v3 API. This is the same process you completed when first integrating your Ahrefs account.
2. Changes to Credit Usage
With the v2 API, retrieving metrics cost 1 credit for Domain Rating and 2 credits for all other metrics.
Under v3, Ahrefs now charges between 1 and 5 credits per metric.
To help reduce unnecessary credit usage, DomCop will limit the metrics we retrieve to a smaller set of core data points.
Metrics That Will Continue to Be Retrieved
- Domain Rating: 1 credit
- Ahrefs Rank: 1 credit
- Total Backlinks: 1 credit
- Total Dofollow Backlinks: 1 credit
- Total Referring Domains: 5 credits
- Total Referring IPs: 1 credit
- Total Referring Subnets: 1 credit
All other Ahrefs metrics will be removed from DomCop on October 18. This adjustment is necessary to keep credit usage manageable under the new pricing structure.
We understand that these changes may be inconvenient, particularly the need to reauthorize your account and the increased credit costs determined by Ahrefs. Unfortunately, this update is mandatory as part of Ahrefs’ API transition.
If you need assistance reauthorizing or have any questions about how this impacts your usage, our support team is ready to help.
