What are ccTLDs?

Before we dive into our comprehensive list, let's clarify what ccTLDs mean. Country Code Top-Level Domains, or simply ccTLDs, are essentially domain suffixes that indicate the country or territory to which a website is affiliated. For instance, a website ending in .uk likely originates from the United Kingdom.

Whether you're launching a website or just browsing the internet, knowing your domains by country can be a useful tool. It provides context, allows for better targeting, and simply satisfies our innate human curiosity.

Beyond the Common Domains

These can pinpoint the nation of origin and even tell if they're fortified with DNSSEC—a security feature combating nasty tricks like phishing. Furthermore, some domains embrace international flair, allowing the use of diverse alphabetic characters, like the 'é' in Canada's 'métro.ca'. However, there's a twist: while some domains can utilize various characters, their top-level extensions might remain unchanged. Take Germany as a prime example. They can flaunt vowels with umlauts and the unique 'ß', yet their steadfast domain remains '.de'. An intricate realm, isn’t it?
